Nathan Rose, a recent guest on our crowdfunding podcast, has penned the seminal book on equity crowdfunding. We’re making some history here because we’ve never published a crowdfunding book review before. There’s generally no point in doing so as nearly every crowdfunding book published is obsolete and out of date within months of going on sale. Case in point: Imagine a crowdfunding book on Indiegogo. Such a book would need to have been updated and revised at least three times in 2016 alone thanks to the faster-than-light evolution of crowdfunding and all of the new features Indiegogo is rolling out all the time.

Nathan Rose’s equity crowdfunding book, on the other hand, will stand the test of time and remain relevant in the long term. Indeed, this is a book anyone can pick up five years from now and find it just as useful and informative as it is today. How’d he do it? He stuck to core crowdfunding concepts that know no boundaries of time…or space. Those seeking to launch an equity crowdfunding campaign in Brighton, England or Brisbane, Australia or Brooklyn, New York will get a lot out of this tome.

Comparing and contrasting reward crowdfunding and equity crowdfunding, the author spells out the similarities and the differences delivering value to either species of crowdfunder. I feel comfortable recommending this book to ANYONE crowdfunding at all. The down-to-earth doses of reality will reign in neophytes with unrealistic expectations as a crash course in business 101 is delivered to people for whom which crowdfunding is their first rodeo in the business world.

Seasoned entrepreneurs won’t feel left out; there’s plenty of actionable information that won’t leave hardened business veterans bored with “been there, done that” truisms or topics as dated as the discovery of fire or the invention of the wheel. Too many business and finance books give off the odor of a tired sitcom rerun recycling jokes far past their shelf date and ,happily, Nathan Rose’s equity crowdfunding isn’t one of them.

While geared towards those exploring the possibilities of equity crowdfunding, I feel confident suggesting this book to anyone considering crowdfunding altogether.
